Titanium Knee

Four weeks down from knee replacement surgery and I am no longer under house arrest.  We attended Josey and Paul's Ward Luau on Friday and then I even went to Sacrament Meeting yesterday.  The knee is progressing but still balking at bending.  The muscles still seem to be in post operative stress syndrome.  Here is Abby hanging out with Grandma while she uses the CPM machine to continuously bend my knee to a higher degree.  This takes 4 hours a day!

Many thanks to Josey and Kristen who came to my rescue many days to make lunch, fill the ice machine so I could put ice packs on my knee and to save my sanity!

What happened to the medically queasy husband that I married?  Rick suddenly became quite the shot giver--I had to have a shot every day in my stomach for 18 days to prevent blood clots.  The lovely white "Tec" hose also are a preventative measure.  Pres. Bateman had blood clots when he had both of his knees replaced.
I have to use the walker for six weeks. Aunt Betty's walker is a "Cadillac". The seat is great for giving Luke a ride, hauling stuff around and love that I always a a chair when I become exhausted from being on my legs. It's amazing how tiring it is to get showered, dressed, makeup and hair done.

The garden has survived and thrived under Rick's care.  This was our first produce of the year.  Our hanging flower baskets, herb garden, and flower gardens are doing well.  He definitely earned his GREEN THUMB award this year.

Interior Camper pictures

Ryan asked what the inside of the Prowler looks like--so here are some interior pictures.  This first picture is the slide out/dining area that makes into a bed.  With the slide out, there is enough room for a double size blow up mattress on the floor.

The next picture is the "master suite"--yeah, no more crawling over Dad to get into bed like in the motorhome--you can walk around three sides of the bed and a sliding wood door closes off the area.  There is also an exterior door in the bedroom.

Next is the fold down sofa/bed with storage underneath.  The galley kitchen has lots of storage, a nice frig/freezer and the stove has an oven.  There are hookups for a TV.

The bathroom even has a nice deep (for trailers) tub for bathing the grands.

Prowler in our yard

Dad and I have been looking at tent trailers, hybrid trailers, new trailers, used trailers since last summer.  Our tenting at Trial Lake was lots of fun--but very cold and not so easy on the joints getting out of the blow up mattress.  Quite frankly--we aren't what we used to be.

We also realized that we're older than his parents were when we got married and they got their trailer that we sure enjoyed using with them before we got our first motorhome.   Then in California while looking at all of Kerry's fun Gardanier pictures at the beach, I realized if we don't start BEING the camping grandparents that we want to be--it's not going to happen.

We look forward to some fun camping this summer!

We found a used 2004 trailer at a dealer in SLC that is in really good condition and ended up costing less than even a new tent trailer (with very unprivate bathroom).  Our trailer has a full bed/room in the back with an exit door, bath in the middle with a sofa across the front end and a "slide out" dining/bed on the side across from the kitchen.  It even has room to set up a porta crib or a blow up mattress!  We think it will be great to take family and friends camping and be protected from the elements--not to mention help to get a lot of camping stuff out of the garage.

Family Home Evening Lobster

Tonight Lindsay asked what Dad and I were doing for FHE tonight.  Well as you can see, we ate lobster!  It all started last Thursday night when we decided to celebrate Gwyn's arrival and I decided to cash in on a promised visit for my 2008 birthday to Red Lobster.  We had a great lobster special dinner, but of course  the whole time Dad was figuring out how he could do it better.  During our weekend trip to Costco what do you suppose ended up in our shopping cart--you guessed it--two lobsters (for the price of one of our dinners at RL).

To take it over the top, Dad added prawns and some tenderloin pastry from the freezer (he's the only one who knows what all is in the freezer!).  It was delicious--the only thing missing was a cheese biscuit--which was what I was really wanting the whole time from Red Lobster.  Any recipes for their biscuits would be appreciated!   By the way, we did read the Ensign for FHE.

Zion after a winter storm

 Court of the Patriarchs

The winter snow storm was a great serendipity ending to our St. George Home Show trip in February with the Gustafsons.  What a winter wonderland!
